| Wow! The heat in Rome was something else and you can imagine the lethal temperature of a closed car in Mediterranean sunlight! I recommend you use one of those windshield sunshades (which are available everywhere). Don't leave sunglasses on the dashboard near the windshield coz the lenses will warp, not to mention the nasty burn across the nose and eyebrows when you put them back on!! |

Colosseum - This ancient monument is one of the most famous and most impressive of the many that are found in Rome. This incredible attraction can be found at the centre of the Roman Forum and is a must see.
Vatican City - This tiny state in the centre of Rome is the capital of Catholicism Probably the most famous attraction here is the incredible Sistine Chapel
Castel Sant'Angelo - This great circular building is now an interesting museums located not far away from the Vatican. It was originally built by Emporer Hadrian to serve as his mausoleum and is now an interesting cultural attraction.
Baths of Caracalla - These ruins are incredibly well preserved and well worth a look. Although essentially just a shell, this is one place to realise the full brilliance of Roman architecture.
Museo Capitolino - This fantastic museum has a great collection of statues, and its setting is even more impressive. It is found in the Michelangelo designed Piazza del Campidoglio, on Capitoline Hill which is where Rome was once governed from.

Birth of Rome Celebrations - (21st April) The foundation of Rome in 753 BC is celebrated on the 21st of April every year. Aventine Hill is covered in candles and there is a magnificent firework display.
Festa de'Noantri - (June) Running for a week starting on the third Friday every June, with music, street theatre and local stalls being set up for the length of this religious festival.
