| Baia Overview |
Baia is a quiet small port about a 15 minute drive from Pozzuoli. There is a host of Roman ruins in and around the town and it was a popular holiday spot. There is much evidence of the Romans at play in the baths and splendid villas.
Though the beach is a bit ordinary, this is still a good base in which explore the region as there is plenty in the area. So if you like your history to combine with the coastal delights this is it. Glass bottom boats take the visitor on an underwater history trip. |

Castle of Baia - The beautiful castle is majestically perched on a hill overlooking the bay. An eventful history and fine Archaeological Museum make it a must.
Casina Vanvitelliana - The spectacular royal palace is located on the Baia - Fusaro road. It has hosted many famous people from Mozart to the Czar of Russia.
Archaeological Park - The Roman Thermae of Baia is where the ancient Romans came to bathe. The ruins are well preserved.
Monumental Park - This area is in the same park, but is dedicated to Roman edifices to the gods of the day. The temples of Diana and Venus can be viewed from here.
Punta Epitaffio - An outcrop of rock in the bay that has a Herculean history and a fabulous view of the castle, sea and mountains. |
