| Asti Overview |
Asti is located 30 km north of Alba and well known for producing Spumante wines. The town is pleasant and quiet with some areas of interest. There are some pretty areas near the town to explore and of course the wine producers are nearby.
There was a thriving Jewish population in the area and the town of Casale Monferrato, as well as Asti just to the north houses a Synagogue that are both open. |

Collegiata di San Secondo - This 2nd century church is dedicated to the city's patron saint, though there is nothing left of that, it has been restored in Gothic style.
Piazza Alfieri - The towns central square is dissected by Corso Alfieri being the main street. Relax with a glass of Spumante in one of the open-air bars.
Church of San Pietro - The main street is home to a 12th century baptistry, now used for exhibitions. The museum has a collection of local artefacts.
Acqui Terme - The nearby spa town is not only a nice drive, but offers hot mineral water spa's.
Torre Rossa - Located at the end of Corso Alfieri. The medieval Roman tower served as a prison in Rome's heyday. |

Palio (September) - This famous festival brings the town to life with bare back horse riders competing for the title. Much eating, drinking and being merry.
